The 31 year old has decided to move from Yamaha to the Italian Ducati team for the 2011 MotoGp season.
Gabriele Del Torchio, president of Ducati Motor in his press report said “He is a paragon of excellence in the world of motorcycling, coherent with our Italian company which is a standard bearer for ‘made in Italy’ excellence. These are key values for success in technology, design and sportsmanship. In addition to the strong and passionate intent of both parties, this agreement has been made possible by the committed support of our shareholder Investindustrial and all the sponsors associated with the Ducati Team, sponsors which have believed in this opportunity and share and support our choices". The deal is for 2 years as of now and the a €15 million salary (almost double Yamaha’s offer) in front of the nine-time World Champion.
This deal is sure to make some dramatic changes in the points table as well as the competition in the upcoming MotoGp season which is scheduled to start on March 20th in Qatar.
