No more" Hamara Bajaj" from April of this year because the think tank of Bajaj Auto are thinking along the lines of building a brand image for the Pulsar and Discover brands. The Pulsar will be promoted as a performance machine at a reasonable price the Discover will be promoted as a fuel efficient as well as a powerful commuter.

Revamped R15 To Be Launched In January 2011

On 25th January Yamaha India is all set to launch the upgraded version R15 with the same specs as the older version.The new R15 is just a cosmetic change with a different body kit and raised rear like its elder siblings. The new R15 also seems to sport a fatter looking rear tyres and different set of alloys which adds to the sporty look and  split seats are also a welcome change. Sources say that Yamaha might even change the body kits of existing R15's which are under warranty:D, yes you read it right! This picture clicked by Vaibhav Saigal appeared on Orkut and  went viral.

Other Companies Are Vary Of Honda Going Solo In India

With the split between the Hero Group and Honda , we can expect Honda to be far more aggressive in their launching of bikes and      pricing them. They have the technical skills, they have understood the dynamics of Indian market but what remains to be seen is     how they fare against the the top Indian Motorcycle manufacturers; Bajaj and TVS.

Mission R Electric Superbike

Mission motors launched their latest electric superbike in Long Beach International Motorcycle Show. It will take part in the 2011 TTXGP Championship (Time Trial Xtreme Grand Prix). It boasts of a 141 horsepower which comes from a 14.4 kWh capacity battery and motor itself has a three phase liquid cooled AC Induction design. Peak torque is about 115 lb-ft and transmission is through a single gear and a final chain drive. The top speed of the bike is more than 160mph! .

The emission norms are getting stringent every year and it is said that it was the prime reason for Honda to part ways with the Herogroup. By 2015 all the bikes in India would adhere by the BS4 norms which is much more stringent compared to the BS3.

Bajaj Auto To Add 130 New Dealers And Plans A Big Launch In April

In an interview with CNBC , Bajaj Auto MD Mr Rajiv Bajaj insisted that expansion of dealer networks is key to their growth in 2011. He also conceded that some of his market had been eaten by Hero Honda and TVS. Despite the production plant being closed for three days the company managed to produce the best December sales ever. Domestic motorcycle sales went up by 15% and overall motorcycle sales went up by 11% in the month. Though the news which made few eyebrows stand up is the launch of a new bike in April. We all know that it's the KTM 125 dont we ;).

Suzuki and TVS Motors Register 78% and 42% Growth Respectively

 

Suzuki has shown a staggering 78% growth in December2010 compared to December 2009. The steep growth is due to the good sale of their scooter Access and bike GS 150R. In the month of December Suzuki has sold 25,837 two wheelers and the numbers suggest that there is a growth of 2% compared to the previous months sale. Suzuki’s portfolio in India includes Access, GS 150R, Slingshot, GSX-1000R, Bandit1250, Hayabusa1300, Intruder 1800R.

Royal Enfield To Set Up New Production Facility In Andhra Pradesh

 

 

Royal Enfield is planning to set up a new production facility in Andhra Pradesh. The ever increasing waiting periods of the Royal Enfield bikes have prompted them to take this much needed step. Thunderbird and the classic 500 have waiting period of around 4-5 months so the new plant will ease the workload of the existing plant here in Chennai which currently has a capacity to produce 39,000 units a month. The new production plant will be situated in Sri City in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. It is estimated that the total cost involved will be around 250 Crores which will be spread in two phases. Let’s hope the new plant will pave way for some nice Enfield’s in the future.

Bookings Start For The Honda CBR250R

The bookings have started for the Honda CBR250R and the price for the base version without ABS is 1.5lac. The optional ABS will lighten your pocket by another Rs 25000. This should clearly dampen the sales of the Ninja250 which sells for about 3.04 lacs here and  though it produces an additional 4 Bhp. The delivery of the bikes will start from the first week of the April. This will also make sure the Indian Motorcycle manufactures will start competing in this segment and already we have news that Pulsar250 is on the way. CB Twister Wins Top 2010 Award

JK tyre and Top Indian Automotive magazines vote the CB twister as the bike if the year 2011. The other contestants for the top award were the Tvs Jive, Bajaj Pulsar135. CB Twister ticked all the right boxes in terms of styling, easy handling and good low end torque considering that the bike was a commuter. Magazines that voted the bikes were Overdrive, Bike India, Top gear and BS Motoring along with JK tyres.

Yamaha To Launch Scooter By End Of 2011

 

India Yamaha Motors are considering launching a scooter by the end of the 2011 and the R&D for the new scoot has already begun. The scooter in all probability will have a 125cc mill that with enough power to make the premium 125cc in the market a good run for their money.

Revamped Yamaha R15 To Arrive In January

Probably the most awaited bike in the 150 cc segment since its announcement, the new Yamaha R15 will arrive on the Indian shores on January 25, 2011. Known for its performance, lets just hope it gives us more on the double.

Bajaj Pulsar 250 To Be Launched In Mid 2011

Yes you read it right,be ready for a bigger pulsar in the next year which will sport a 250cc single cylinder engine, liquid cooled, 4 valve/ cylinder technology, though the power and torque figures are unknown. It will have a design similar to the one in the Pulsar135 with the sharp edges, raised rear and possibly a monoshock suspension. Speculations are at an all time high as Mr. Rajiv Bajaj announced that there will be a new pulsar in the coming 2011 and we certainly think that it would be the 250cc one.  The bike should be priced around 1.4lacs which should see almost everyone upgrading from the 150cc segment to the 250. Hopefully we have a whole new segment in the coming year with the CBR250R also slated to launch along with a possible Yamaha 250CC bike.

Indian Grand Prix Scheduled For 30th, October 2011

The much talked about Indian GP has finally been scheduled for October 30th, 2011. However, the circuit inspection from FIA is still pending. As it is, the F1 GP next year is scheduled for a record 20 races next year.
