Motorcycle Sales Take A Dip

The motorcycle sales have slumped to a three year low and this pronounced dip in the sales has been attributed to the erratic monsoons and increasing petrol costs.

The data published by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers indicate that the sales have dwindled to an all time 3 year low. The dip of 8.5% has been recorded this year at 7,66,123 units for the month under review.

The decrease in sales was felt by all the major manufacturers with TVS Motors recording the highest dip of 21% followed by Bajaj at 10%. The market leader, Hero MotoCorp weren't left unaffected either as the demand for entry level commuter motorcycles went down for the first time in many years. With the festival season coming up, the sales is expected to pick up and improve in the coming months.
