KTM's Stefan Pierer Eyes The Indian Mass Motorcycle Segment; 180cc In The Offing?

KTM is one happy motorcycle company. The KTM Duke 200 is a hit with the Indian mass; thanks to its refreshing looks and its price tag (something every motorcycle manufacturer has to keep in mind in India). KTM's Stefan Pierer reflected similar thoughts but is definitely eyeing the Indian mass motorcycle market. He made it clear that a smaller KTM is definitely on the cards.

KTM's recent announcement of bringing in the KTM Duke 390 has made the Indian motorheads are excited. With this ... (shall we say tip-off?), enthusiasts will keep their fingers crossed. Stefan reckons that the smaller displacement KTM will have lower specs compared to the KTM Duke 200 (duh!) to bring down the prices. Simply put, if KTM prices it in the INR 80,000 to INR 100,000 group; they have a winner.

Mr.Stefan also stated that the Duke 125 won't hit the Indian roads as it was exclusively built for Europe.

We can't talk about KTM in India without the name Bajaj being brought up. Thanks to Bajaj, KTM Duke 125 was a success in Europe, not to mention the Duke 200 in India. The Duke 390 will be manufactured at Bajaj's Chakan plant in India.

If the speculations are true, the Duke 390 will hit the Indian roads in 2013 with a price tag around INR 200,000. With that price tag, you don't need an expert market analyst to say it will be a hit.
