TVS Motorcycles group which got beat by Honda in terms of overall sales in the past is ready to fight back with a series of launches by 2014.
TVS has invested around INR 400 crores to develop a couple of new engines and get this: it aims to launch 6 new products by the end of 2015.
Vinay Harne, President of NPI, TVS Motors said:
"Currently we produce only up to 180 cc and below; we will be entering the bigger bikes segment. There is a trend of moving towards bigger bikes; while the numbers are small, the growth is quite high."
Mr.Harne also further said that one engine will be used across the six products and the other exclusively for developing the 200-250cc motorcycle. The smaller engine will meet the Euro V norms and will result in a 20% lower CO2 emissions.
TVS also recently showcased their hybrid scooter Qube at the Delhi Autoexpo. Mr. Harne stated that TVS hopes to recover their market share by creating a new market with the same. It will definitely be a lead up but the mass market still seems to be unchallenged, thanks to the might of the Honda.
Tvs Qube Hybrid is the latest launched scooter by TVS motors. This scooter can run on both fuel petrol or electricity. This scooter is loaded with 100 cc petrol engines and a lithium-ion battery that will run an electric motor that will produce power of 100 cc Qube.
