Valentino Rossi To Return To Yamaha For 2013 & 2014

Well, its finally (officially that is) out! Valentino Rossi is going to leave Ducati to ride the Yamaha for the 2013 & 2014 season. We were all prepared for it ever since MCN published a news about rumors of the Doctor returning to the Yamaha.

It first happened with Ducati announcing officially that they are parting ways with Valentino Rossi after a disappointing one and half seasons so far. Here is Ducati's press release:

As the MotoGP series awaits its return to action for the August 19 Indianapolis Grand Prix, Ducati announces that its working relationship with Valentino Rossi will conclude at the end of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship.
Ducati wishes the Italian well for the new challenges that await him, and in the meantime, the team will continue to give its best effort in order to improve over the latter part of the season.
Racing has always been in Ducati’s DNA, and now more than ever, it is integral to the Borgo Panigale company’s product development and image. AUDI shares Ducati’s strategic approach and agrees with its growing commitment to competition.
Therefore, having recently renewed its agreement with American Nicky Hayden, Ducati is in the process of finalizing the team that will take part in the 2013 World Championship, confident that its team and bike will be capable of competing at the highest level.
And another official press release from Yamaha:

It is with great pleasure that Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd confirms the signing of Valentino Rossi to ride for the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Team for 2013 and 2014.
Valentino Rossi first joined Yamaha in 2004 and achieved four MotoGP World Champion titles with the Yamaha YZR-M1 in 2004 & 2005 and again in 2008 & 2009. He won 46 Grand Prix races with Yamaha over a 7 year period before leaving at the end of the 2010 MotoGP season.
Rossi, who is presently 8th in the Championship standings, will partner Jorge Lorenzo who currently leads the 2012 MotoGP World Championship by 23 points, having taken five victories from the first ten completed races of the 18 race series.
Valentino Rossi quit Yamaha at the end of 2010 after having a bad relationship with his then teammate Jorge Lorenzo (will be from now). As of now, the Doctor has admitted that Yamaha look at Lorenzo as the number one rider as the man is at his prime while Rossi will try to end his career at Yamaha, hopefully with his head held high. The only black mark? The fact that he couldn't do anything about the Ducati GP12. Stoner fans will make sure he doesn't forget that.

Valentino Rossi had switched to Ducati in 2011 hoping that he would be the only man in Premier class history to win the championship with all the manufacturers on the grid. But problems plagued ever since he started riding it. The major one being the lack of front-end feel of the GP12. Rossi simply couldn't enter corners with the confidence that he had with the Yamaha M1. Audi's recent acquisition of Ducati has not really convinced Rossi after his dismal failure to complete the race at the recently held Laguna Seca.

Well, its all smiles for Yamaha now. The return of Valentino Rossi does not only mean the return of a star but also potential sponsors. The man is bigger than the sport itself. With Rossi comes all sponsors irrespective of whether he is winning races or not.

One more MotoGP championship for Valentino Rossi will enable him to equal Giacomo Agostini's record of premier class championships.

What do we think about it? Its just what the Doctor ordered!
